DASV: John 14
1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God,
believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many dwellings. If it were not
so, I would have told you; because I am going to prepare a
place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again,
and get you; that where I am, you may be also.
4 And you know the way to where I am going."
5 Thomas asked him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going.
How can we know the way?"
6 Jesus replied, "I am the way, the truth and the life; no
one comes to the Father, except through me.
7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also;
from now on you know him, and have seen him."
8 Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and we will
be satisfied."
9 Jesus replied, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you
still don't know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen
the Father. How then can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father
in me? The words that I speak to you I speak not from myself,
but the Father who lives in me does his works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me;
or else believe me just because of the miraculous works'
themselves.
12 I tell you the truth, whoever believes on me, the works
that I do he will do also; and he will do even greater works
than these because I am going to the Father.
13 Whatever you ask in my name, I will do, that the Father may
be glorified in the Son.
14 If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
15 If you love me, you will obey my commandments.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another
Advocate, who will be with you forever;
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive; for it
does not see him or know him. You know him; for he lives
with you, and will be in you.
18 I will not abandon you as orphans; I will come to you.
19 In a little while, the world will see me no more; but you
will see me; because I live, you too will live.
20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you
are in me, and I in you.
21 The one who has my commandments, and obeys them, that one
loves me and the one who loves me will be loved by my
Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself
to him."
22 Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, what has
happened that you intend to manifest yourself to us,
and not to the world?"
23 Jesus replied, "If someone loves me, he will obey my
word; and my Father will love him, and we will come to
him, and make our residence with him.
24 The one who does not love me does not obey my words.
The word you hear is not mine, but the Father's who
sent me.
25 I have spoken these things to you, while I am still
with you.
26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father
will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and
bring to your remembrance everything that I told you.
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I
am not giving it to you as the world gives it. Don't
let your heart be troubled or afraid.
28 You heard how I said to you, I am going away, but I
will come back to you. If you loved me, you would rejoice,
because I go to the Father; because the Father is greater
than I.
29 Now I have told you before it happens, so that when it
takes place, you may believe.
30 I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of
the world is coming. He has no power over me,
31 but I am doing what the Father commanded me, so that
the world may know that I love the Father. Get up, let's
get out of here."
