          DASV: Revelation 13

1 Then the dragon stood on the sand of the sea. I saw a beast
coming up out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads and
on his horns were ten diadems, and on its heads were
blasphemous names.
2 The beast that I saw was like a leopard, and its feet were
like a bear's, and its mouth like the mouth of a lion. The
dragon gave it his power and his throne and great authority.
3 One of its heads seemed to have a fatal wound and its mortal
wound was healed, and the whole earth was amazed and followed
the beast.
4 They worshipped the dragon, because he gave his authority
to the beast and they also worshipped the beast, saying,
"Who is like the beast?" And "Who is able to wage war
against it?"
5 Now the beast was given a mouth speaking arrogant words
and blasphemies. It was granted authority for forty-two months.
6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, to blaspheme his name,
his dwelling which is those who dwell in heaven.
7 It was also permitted to make war against the saints and
to conquer them. It was given authority over every tribe
and people and tongue and nation.
8 All who live on the earth will worship it, every one whose
name has not been written from the foundation of the world
in the Book of Life of the Lamb who was slain.
9 If anyone has an ear, he needs to listen.
10 If anyone is destined for captivity,
           into captivity he will go.
If anyone kills with the sword,
with the sword he must be killed.
This requires patience and faith from the saints.

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth.
It had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.
12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast in
its presence. It made the earth and its inhabitants
worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.
13 It performed great signs, even making fire come down
out of heaven on the earth in the sight of humankind.
14 It deceived those who live on the earth by the signs that
it was given to perform on behalf of the beast; telling
those who live on the earth to make an image of the
beast who had been wounded by the sword and lived.
15 It was empowered to give breath to this image of the first
beast, so that the image of the first beast could speak,
and cause anyone who would not worship the image of the
beast to be killed.
16 It also forced all, both great and small, rich and poor,
bond and free, to be given a mark on their right hand,
or on their forehead.
17 This was so that no one would be able to buy or sell,
unless he had the mark of the beast, that is his name
or number.
18 This calls for wisdom. Let the one who has understanding
calculate the number of the beast; for it is the number
of a man. Its number is 666.
