          DASV: Isaiah 11

1 There will grow up a shoot out of the stump of Jesse,
     and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.
2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest upon him,
     the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
     the Spirit of counsel and might,
     the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.
3 His delight will be in the fear of the LORD.
     He will not judge after the sight of his eyes,
     neither decide after the hearing of his ears.
4 But he will judge the poor with righteousness,
          and decide for the oppressed of the earth with equity.
      He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth;
          with the breath of his lips, he will kill the wicked.
5 Righteousness will be the belt around his hips,
     and faithfulness the belt around his waist.
6 The wolf will dwell with the lamb,
     and the leopard will lie down with the young goat;
      the calf, the young lion, and the fattened cow
           will lie down together;
      and a little child will lead them.
7 The cow and the bear will graze together;
     their young ones will lie down together;
           the lion will eat straw like an ox.
8 The nursing child will play near the hole of the asp,
     and the weaned child will put his hand into the viper's hole.
9 They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain;
     for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD
           as the waters cover the sea.
10 In that day the root of Jesse will be raised for a sign of the peoples;
     the nations will seek guidance from him;
           his resting place will be glorious.
11 In that day the Lord will set his hand again the second time
     to recover the remnant of his people that remains,
     from Assyria and from Egypt,
     from Pathros and from Cush,
     from Elam, and from Shinar,
     from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
12 Then he will set up a signal flag for the nations,
     and will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
     and gather together the dispersed of Judah
           from the four corners of the earth.
13 The jealousy of Ephraim will depart;
     those hostile to Judah will be cut off.
           Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah,
     and Judah will not be hostile to Ephraim.
14 They will swoop down on the shoulder of the Philistines on the west;
          together they will plunder the people of the east.
     They will put forth their hand on Edom and Moab,
          and the Ammonites will obey them.
15 The LORD will divide the gulf of the Egyptian sea;
     with his scorching wind he will wave his hand
           over the Euphrates River.
      He will split it up into seven streams,
          and enable people to cross over in sandals.
16 There will be a highway for the remnant of his people
     that remain from Assyria,
      like there was for Israel in the day
     that they came up out of the land of Egypt.
