          DASV: Song of Songs 3

Beloved woman
1 By night on my bed I longed for him whom my soul loves,
I longed for him, but did not find him.
2 I will get up now and go around town,
in the streets and in the squares.
I will search for him whom my soul loves.
So I searched for him, but did not find him.
3 The watchmen found me as they made their rounds,
"Have you seen him whom my soul loves?"
4 Scarcely had I passed from them,
when I found him whom my soul loves.
I held him and would not let him go,
until I had brought him into my mother's house,
into the bedroom of her who conceived me.
5 I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
by the gazelles and young does of the field,
do not stir or awaken love until it is ready.

Women of Jerusalem
6 Who is this coming up from the wilderness,
     like a column of smoke,
      perfumed with myrrh and frankincense,
with all kinds of fragrant powders from the merchant?
7 Look, it is Solomon's carriage,
with sixty valiant warriors around it,
           the mighty men of Israel.
8 All of them wearing the swords,
     they are expert in war.
Every man has his sword strapped on his thigh,
ready for the terrors of the night.
9 King Solomon made a carriage for himself
made of wood imported from Lebanon.
10 He made its posts of silver,
     its back of gold,
           its seat of purple,
      its interior inlaid with love,
     by the daughters of Jerusalem.

Beloved woman
11 Go out, O daughters of Zion, gaze on king Solomon,
with the crown with which his mother crowned him,
           on his wedding day,
the day his heart was happy.
