          DASV: Psalm 4

For the music director, with stringed instruments. A psalm of David.

1 Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
     When I was in distress, you gave me relief;
           have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
2 How long, O sons of men, will my glory be turned into shame?
     How long will you love worthless words and pursue lies? Selah
3 But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself;
     the LORD will hear when I call to him.
4 Fearfully tremble and do not sin;
     ponder in your heart when on your beds and be silent. Selah
5 Offer right sacrifices,
     and put your trust in the LORD.
6 There are many who complain,
     "Who will show us anything good?"
      May the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.
7 You have put gladness in my heart,
     more than those who have abundant grain and wine.
8 In peace I will lay down and sleep;
     for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
