1 The land allotment for the descendants of Joseph extended
from the Jordan River by Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho,
through the wilderness, going up from Jericho through the hill
country to Bethel.
2 It went out from Bethel (that is, Luz), and passed along to
the border of the Arkites at Ataroth,
3 and it descended westward to the territory of the Japhletites
as far as the territory of Lower Beth-horon, and on to Gezer;
and ended at the sea.
4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received
their inheritance.

5 This was the territory of the descendants of Ephraim according
to their clans: the border of their land inheritance to the east
was Ataroth-addar, to Upper Beth-horon,
6 then on to the sea. From Micmethath on the north the border
turned to the east to Taanath-shiloh, and crossed to the east
of Janoah.
7 It went down from Janoah to Ataroth and Naarah, and touched
Jericho, then ended at the Jordan River.
8 From Tappuah the border went westward to Wadi Kanah; and ended
at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of Ephraimites
according to their clans.
9 It also included the towns that were set apart for the Ephraimites
within the inheritance of the Manassehites, all those towns
with their villages.
10 They did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer,
so the Canaanites live within Ephraim to this day, and do forced
labor as their servants.
